"Becoming the Light: Advocating for Truth in Everyday Life"

Living the Truth: Advocating for What is Right Through Principled Living

In Matthew 5:16, we are encouraged, "Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven." This verse has become a guiding principle in my life, reminding me that living with integrity and making principled decisions isn’t just for my benefit—it’s a way to reflect God’s light to the world. Each choice, every action, can be an opportunity to show others His love, truth, and justice.

One of the most direct ways I’ve seen this play out is through my lawn care business. What started as a practical job soon became a chance to build relationships and share the gospel. I realized that by providing a service with honesty, kindness, and respect, I could not only help my clients but also create openings for conversations about faith. I found that when I lived out my beliefs through my actions, it became a natural way to be a light to those around me.

The challenges of everyday life are another opportunity to reflect God’s light. Atlanta traffic can be frustrating, and at times, my patience is tested. But these moments have become a practice in humility. By choosing to remain calm and patient, even when things don’t go as planned, I demonstrate self-control—one of the ways we can show God’s light through our actions. It’s not always easy, but I’ve learned that being a light in the world means consistently living out the fruits of the Spirit, no matter the circumstances.

Overcoming personal challenges has been another key part of my journey. Whether studying for my life and health insurance exam or facing difficult emotional situations, I’ve had to rely on God’s strength to keep moving forward. It hasn’t been easy, but each challenge has shaped my character. The more I align my actions with His Word, the more I see how He uses these moments to refine me and help me shine brighter as a reflection of His grace.

Supporting my sister has also taught me the importance of being a light. She’s shown me how important it is to be present for others and how simple acts of kindness can demonstrate God’s love. Whether it’s being a source of support during difficult times or offering help in practical ways, this has deepened my understanding of how to walk humbly with God, as Micah 6:8 reminds us: “He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.”

In everything, I strive to live according to the principles of justice, mercy, and humility. These are not just ideals to me—they are ways to reflect God’s character and be a light in the world. As I continue to live out these values, I am reminded that each moment is an opportunity to shine His light, not for my own glory, but for His.
